Happy Birthday Scott and Natalie
So the sloth sighting was definitely the higlight of my mission.
I told the members, Did you know that legend states (in the explanation of how sloths came to Earth) that the sloths climbed over the gates of the Celestial Kingdom, and fell down, and that they fell down to Earth? That´s why they exist here on Earth today. The members, Okay Elder Talentino, not really understanding this sloth fettish, but okay.
I also said, I seriously almost robbed that sloth to take him home with me. The people commented ÍBAMA ia lhe pegar!! haha
Mita sent me those photos. I saw a sloth for the first time in my life in Camaragibe!!! I waited almost 21 years for this moment,
unfortunately I didn´t have a camera with me to take a sloth selfie =( (the one time in my life when I really needed a camera)-but I used that moment for Walter Mitty where the camera man doesn´t take a picture of that super rare animal and just enjoys the moment of seeing natures precious jewels. You know those moments that you wait for your whole life-and it´s better! Well that was this moment. The sloth was climbing a tree ever so rapidly next to one of the main rainds and a large group of people started to gather around to take pictures, because you usually don´t ever see sloths in the city. Also, Mita showed us the Rio temple dedication, the look on Elder Costa´s face-I´m dying. He was so hot, when he got up to speak he said ´Que calor!
It was also nice being in the integrated bus-train station, and I heard a voice shout out Élder!!, and I turned around and it was Eduardo-(I had never seen him in normal clothes, only in church clothes so it took a moment to process, you know that moment also, where you stand there and think, this wasn´t how I imagined your style as a ´normal person´haha anyway), I love seeing members in public, anyway, we gave each other a hug and went our ways. Gotta love seeing members in public.
Also investigating was Andre, who works at the old Recife train station in the historic part of Recife, he said a ton of foreigners came into Recife recently (Carnaval!), and almost none of them speak Portuguese, or if they do it´s just Óbrigado!-typical, haha. We also practiced Portuguese and English tongue-twisters (woodchuck, etc.)
They said there were some MASSIVE cruise ships that came into Recife with tons of foreigners getting off for Caranval, they´re starting to leave now.
Also, Neto caught a Hoppip in Pokemon Go, which I thought was pretty cool seeing someone catch a Pokemon for the first time (people don´t play it as much here because of the risk of getting assaulted).
We´ve been trying to renew our group of investigators but it´s been difficult, we´ve been able to help recent converts and less actives a great deal, but all the good street/proprio esforco contacts we get are for other areas, which is extremely frustrating. There was one lady who literally stopped us in the street to ask us about the Book of Mormon, and all these other questions, and then we found out that this super elect woman is from Camaragibe, haha, that´s life.
Elder Talentino
