Zone Conference Picture
Maybe because it´s February, not sure, but I have been noticing quite a bit about the heart recently here in the area and in the scriptures, and the way it is intertwined with the precious gift of free agency that Heavenly Father gives all of us. We had an experience with one Sister in the ward here, Irma Neide, who works in the cidade universitaria-at a college as a secretary. She commented about how people reacted when they found out she was Mormon-well, after she said, Á Igreja de Jesus Cristo dos Santos dos Ultimos Dias`, o Á Igreja dos Mormons`, as it is commonly called. And she said some people strongly criticized her, but one of the woman there strongly defended her, saying of all the churches she visited, it was were she felt most welcome, and were she truly saw the gospel. When Elder Pereira (I had an exchange with our gaucho district leader), left a message and basically asked for a reference, Neide responded, oh Elder, I don´t know why, but people´s hearts in this area have become so hardened. It wasn´t always so. I´m not sure who would receive you, I could send you to my sister, she´s from the Ássembleia, she´d probably éxpulsar voces haha, but it´s worth a try. She even got irritated with me, my own sister! because of my religion.
Afterwords we went to a neighborhood nearby were virtually every house rejected us or was without interest, which for our area in Brazil, isn´t exactly normal. Elder Pereira ´povo dificil´.
I was led to reflect upon recently in study, upon the choices we make and on our hearts.
